This alphabet originates from the lettering used in 'Flax' magazine designed in 1941 by Van der Leck for De Stijl. The 'Flax' alphabet with it's restricted shapes and abstract stencil like forms is a reflection of the strong geometric language of De Stijl and also shows the influence of his abstract paintings.
