Architype Catalogue originates from Wim Crouwel's 1970 Stedelijk Museum catalogue for an exhibition by sculptor Claes Oldenburg. The soft 'padded' letterforms on the cover are evocative of Oldenburg's work. The artist
was so taken with them, he asked Crouwel to complete the alphabet.

Just a few characters were recently recreated for the 'Seen Unseen' poster, promoting Crouwel's exhibition of Stedelijk posters at SEA Gallery, London. It was later decided with Crouwel's blessing to recreate the
whole character set in outline and solid versions as newly released fonts. The resuting two new typefaces, Architype Catalogue Ouline and Solid,
are available individually or as part of Foundry Architype 3, the Crouwel Collection, in Mac format only.
