The concept for Foundry Fabriek derives from industrial fabrication, where
the parts of any material or structure are united. The systematic grid, formed
by stencil shapes, is indicative of the work of Wim Crouwel, consultant on
the development of this typeface family. Over the five weight progression,
the compact character widths are consistent giving Foundry Fabriek flexibilty
for a variety of applications. The characteristic letterforms take on an extra
dynamic used at large scale, for example cast in concrete or laser cut out of
metal, to form integrated components in architectural or signage projects.
